Whoever, being a prisoner at a jail or , wilfully and injures or destroys any public property or any materials furnished for the employment of prisoners in such jail or may be punished by imprisonment for not less than six months nor more than two and one half years.

A prisoner at a jail or house of correction who wilfully and maliciously injures or destroys public property or materials furnished for prisoners' work may be imprisoned for 6 months to 2½ years.
